No two students are alike.

Alderwood Toronto focuses on the individual needs of each student and implements differentiated learning strategies because each student learns and responds in different ways. Our focus on differentiated learning and teaching stresses that who is being taught is equally as important as what is being taught. We understand that, for example, auditory learners absorb and communicate information differently from visual learners. We aim to support and challenge students according to their own needs while making learning fun and fulfilling. Low student teacher ratios ensure none of our students are lost or left behind in their journey of learning and future pathway for success.

Curriculum meets and exceeds the expectations set out in the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines. The Ontario curriculum with a special school focus on both literacy as well as mathematics will form the essential foundations for learning. Robotics (for example Lego Robotics) will provide a method by which students will meet the expectations of other subject curriculum such as science, language, mathematics, history. The real life connections will make learning more meaningful and relevant for students, increasing student achievement and success. Exit criteria will include among other objectives a strong foundation in balanced literacy and a solid grasp of technology.

Assessment methods will be open and fair. Students will be continually assessed to ensure program and level suitability. Data is available for parents and students at any time and used to improve learning and teaching.
